Role: Co-Creator / Executive Producer
Brad Wright co-developed the original 1994 feature film Stargate for television, never anticipating that it would be broadcast in over 120 countries around the world or, after 10 seasons and 214 episodes, become the longest continuous running science fiction series of all time. With co-creator/executive producer Robert C. Cooper, he went on to create the hit spinoff series Stargate Atlantis, which recently concluded its fifth and final season, and which added another 100 episodes to the franchise total. Wright wrote and produced the second of two direct-to-DVD movies for MGM Television entitled Stargate: Continuum and served as producer on the best selling Stargate: The Ark of Truth.
Wright and Cooper are currently in production with the latest in the Stargate franchise, Stargate Universe; starring Robert Carlyle. SGU will launch in the fall of 2009.
Previously, Wright served as co-executive producer and writer for the Cable Ace Award-winning series The Outer Limits. He has also written for several television series, including Forever Knight, Highlander, Mom P.I., The Black Stallion and Neon Rider, which he also co-produced, along with several television pilots both in Canada and the U.S.
In April 2007, at the 11th Annual Canadian Screenwriting Awards in Toronto, Wright was honored with the inaugural Showrunner Award for his work on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Wright and Cooper were presented with The Special Achievement Award at the 2009 Leo Awards.
