Paul McGillion was born in Paisley, Scotland but emigrated with his family to Canada as a child. He's worked extensively in film, TV and theatre and is best known for the role of Dr. Carson Beckett, the loveable Scottish physician in Stargate Atlantis. Paul recently appeared in the blockbuster Star Trek, directed by JJ Abrams and guest-starred in the finale of 24's season 7. He also co-starred in the Lifetime movie Mom, Dad and Her alongside The Office's Melora Hardin.
Other feature film credits include A Dog's Breakfast with Atlantis co-star David Hewlett, The Deal with Christian Slater and Selma Blair. Jack with Ron Silver, Stockard Channing and Anton Yelchin. A Guy Thing with Julia Stiles and Jason Lee and the award winning See Grace Fly for which Paul was nominated for a Leo Award, for his "heart wrenching performance."
Television credits include lead and guest starring roles in Da Vinci's Inquest, Cold Squad, Smallville, Stargate SG1, The Twilight Zone and The X-Files.
Theatre credits include leading roles in productions such as a sell-out run of Reservations for Four, The Foreigners, Piano, Savage in Limbo, El Salvador and the Jessie nominated Reservations for Two which McGillion also produced and directed to rave reviews.
