Dream Director

Samantha from Gold Bar, WA asks:  What was it like having Robert Carlyle direct the episode “Pathogen”?

Julia Benson answers:  Robert Carlyle was a dream director.  He cared so much about all of our characters and every moment mattered.  It was super cool to hear how he approached a scene, and have a peak inside his brilliant mind for just a moment.   He knew exactly what he wanted from a scene but was very collaborative which always makes for the best experience all around.

No Idea

Julie from Sliven, Bulgaria asks:  What do you think about the new aliens from the episode “Space”?  Did you know what they looked like before you started shooting?

Brian J. Smith answers:  We had an idea of what they would look like based on concept sketches, but we had no idea how they would move or sound. So when we finally saw them I was blown away. Our FX guys always surprise me.

Buckled in Laughter

Robert from Dombóvár asks:  What was the funniest mistake you made or the funniest scene you played in?

Being Tested?

Samantha from Gold Bar, WA asks:  What was it like having Robert Carlyle direct the episode “Pathogen”?

David Blue answers:  I thought it was amazing and intimidating at the same time. He was a really great director and very caring as a fellow artist. He encourages playing and experimenting and I enjoy that. But at the same time, I highly respect him as an artist and couldn't help but feel like I was being tested (even though I wasn't). But it's always hard to perform with/for somebody you hold so much respect for.

He Gets It

Samantha from Gold Bar, WA asks:  What was it like having Robert Carlyle direct the episode “Pathogen”?

Elyse Levesque answers:  That was one of the most surreal experiences ever. We all have so much respect and admiration for the man, that it was a privilege to be directed by him. He comes at the work from an angle that you can easily relate to, being an actor himself. He gets it. I don't know how else to explain it?
